This solvent-free oil finish provides a protective, water-resistant surface. It penetrates to protect from the inside out. Can be used on new wood that is bare, stained, milk-painted or to revive old wood effects. This oil does not leave a surface film that will chip or scratch. This oil does not need to be cut with any solvents. Since there are no added solvents or dryers to this product, the drying time is longer. The oil will feel dry to the touch one day after the inital application, however completely drying will take about two weeks. During this time it is reccomended to place some cardboard pieces where there will be a lot of foot traffic. Dirty shoes should be kept off for at least two weeks.
This oil is great for those that suffer from chemical sensitivities and can not use solvent based products. There is virtually no odour with this product, the odour that it emits is one much like crsuhed walnuts.
This oil will darken and richen the wood with a soft lustre. Generally the older the wood the more it will darken it. These rotating photos above show a 100 year old pine floor that has been freshly sanded, then a coat of Hemp Oil applied, no stain, just Hemp Oil and you can see how rich and dark the wood has become. This will vary based on the type of wood and the age of the wood. It is highly reccomended to try a small amount on an area to find out how your project will look with this application.
Used inside this food-safe oil finish is perfect to use in the kitchen on wooden cutting bords, wooden untensils or stone. Also provides a wonderful finish for flooring * Not reccomended for areas with a lot of water, such as a bathroom, kitchen or front door area unless special care is taken and extra applications are applied*
Used outside, it can restore the lustre of old oil based paint, revitalize surfaces such as cast iron and old wood. Try on an inconspicuous spot to see how it works. Can be used outside on decks, chairs or furniture, however requires an annual application, with a potential power wash to regain the look of new wood. This oil does not contain UV protectors, therefore the wood will age, darken and grey.
This oil is a great environmentally friendly product as the hemp seeds are grown and pressed in Ontario.
